Red is the color of power or the color of death as seen the Game of Thrones episode, 'the red wedding'. Either way I have always shied away from red, it reminded me too much of blood or invited too much attention that I didn't particularly want which is crazy considering I have hot pink hair. When I saw this dress sitting in the sale section on ASOS I kept gravitating towards it, I would 'save it for later' yet kept coming back and finally I put it in my cart and pressed purchase. It sat on my "need to wear" clothing rack for a little bit before I realized I didn't need a special occasion to wear it all I needed was to throw the dress on and acknowledge my weird relationship with the color red.
So here we are, I am shooting photos in bright red dresses and stepping out of my comfort zone because nothing really thrives there.
The dress, the details, the frill make the dress beautiful and I loved wearing it so much so I have already started outfit planning for fall and a fun back to school series I want to shoot in the upcoming weeks. For a dress that was under $25 I was able to walk down the road and garner looks and a lot of positive feedback that made me realize I don't always have to blend in with shades of black and grey, its okay to wear a major pop of color. I am learning how to find comfort in my own skin one red dress at a time and wow, I feel powerful.
